Chinese Herbal Medicine Consultation 01

Chinese Herbal Medicine Consultation

Individualised herbal consultations based on Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, with attention to your health history, current medicines and suitability. Herbal products can interact with medicines, so GP or pharmacist input may be advised where appropriate.

Acupuncture 02

Acupuncture

Acupuncture appointments use very fine, sterile, single-use needles after a consultation and suitability screening. Minan explains the point selection, what you may feel and when another care pathway is more appropriate.

Cupping Therapy 03
+

Cupping Therapy

Cupping uses controlled suction on the skin and soft tissues. It is discussed first so you understand the marks it may leave, the sensations involved and whether it is suitable for you.

Therapeutic Massage 04

Therapeutic Massage

Hands-on soft tissue work for comfort, relaxation, movement and general wellbeing. Pressure, areas treated and treatment goals are agreed before the session begins.

Yao Acupuncture

/taʊ-hiːl/ • noun

1. A modern acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine practice in Manchester.
2. The clinical and teaching work of Minan Yao, MSc, BSc.

The strongest professional signal is simple: in the UK, I do not only practise acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine; I also help teach future practitioners at Manchester Academy of TCM.

My earlier overseas clinical roles with International SOS also shaped how I work: careful history-taking, attention to medicines, red-flag awareness and clear referral boundaries.

At Yao Acupuncture, acupuncture and Chinese medicine are delivered with a calm, structured and safety-led approach. I am a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, not a GMC-registered conventional medical doctor in the UK.

Consultation FAQ

Common questions about Yao Acupuncture's acupuncture and Chinese medicine approach.

Is acupuncture painful? What does it feel like?
Acupuncture needles are very fine. Most clients describe a slight tingling, gentle heaviness or a relaxing sensation during treatment.
What can we discuss during a consultation?
You can discuss your health history, comfort and movement, sleep routine, stress-related wellbeing, digestion, menstrual wellbeing and general vitality. Yao Acupuncture does not use this website to promise that acupuncture or Chinese medicine will treat named medical conditions. Minan assesses suitability individually and will advise GP, urgent care or another regulated service where symptoms need medical supervision.
What qualifications does Minan Yao have?
Minan Yao is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner with 15+ years of clinical experience.

Credentials: BSc & MSc in Traditional Chinese Medicine, practising since 2009, Course Director/Lecturer at Manchester Academy of TCM, ATCM member and former overseas clinical role with International SOS. Minan is not GMC registered and does not practise as a conventional medical doctor in the UK.
Safety: We use sterile, single-use needles and discuss suitability before treatment.
